1. Indicate what will happen from September to June, 2015-16, in your plan. Include contact with Leadership, Advisory Team Meetings (you should create a group to oversee process), professional development, assessments, and any activities (ex: parent sessions, student meetings, etc.)
School begins September 1. However, before school begins 3rd grade will receive the end of the year data from the 2nd grade teachers. This will allow us to see what type of progress the students made in 2nd grade and give us a general idea of where students are entering 3rd grade. I say “general idea” because I have seen in the past some students make improvements over the summer and some students slip back over summer.

September 1-30:
- Administrator the DIBELS oral reading fluency (ORF) assessment, the SRI, and the IRI.
- We will compare this information with the 2nd grade information to look for trends.
- By the end of September (or sooner) target students will be identified. Ideally, it would be nice to have this happened before the end of the month. However, in reality, each year for the last 3 years my site has had to reorganize students after the start of the school year due to student to teacher ratios. We also have a high number of students enrolled after the start of the year. Therefore, it is realistic to expect to have the group set by the end of September.
- Each Friday, weekly reading comprehension assessments (from our LA curric.) to assess students’ mastery of the focus comprehension strategies. This will guide the next steps in working with small reading groups. This will continue all year.
- Begin to progress monitor students’ ORF, informally weekly and formally every 6 weeks. The informal progress monitoring may be done in small groups, having the students time themselves, or a partner. The formal assessment will be one-on-one with me. This will continue on all year.
- Do a full reassessment using SRI, IRI and DIBELS The June assessment is a summative one and it will provide the 4th grade teachers with some guiding data at the beginning of the year.
- DIBELS- weekly progress monitoring
- Reading comprehension assessment- weekly
- SRI: Lexile- September, December, March, June
- IRI- September, December, March, June
3. Describe how you will communicate progress with stakeholders (leadership, teachers, families and students).
Leadership
- The principal will always have access to the PLC meeting notes via the shared Google Doc.
- Principal will sit in on part of PLC meetings to provide support and to be updated on the progress towards goals.
- Teachers meet for 90 minutes 3 Wednesdays per month (4 times if the month has 5 Wednesdays) to review data and develop lessons.
- During this meeting notes will be taken on a shared Google doc that is viewable by the administrator, and all staff involved in the intervention plan.
- Parents will be notified if their child is part of the target group via personal message from the student’s teacher.
- Families will be invited to participate in an SST (Student Success/Study Team) meeting where the goals for their student and the plan for supporting their student will be developed with the grade-level team. There will be a follow up SST after 6 weeks of intervention.
- Recommended reading list will be sent home after each SRI assessment. This provides families with suggested books at the child’s present Lexile level.
Students
- Students will actively participate in graphing their progress for reading fluency and the weekly reading assessments.
- Student-Teacher conferences will be held every 6 weeks to review progress towards goals.
